The purpose of this course is to impart knowledge and provide skills up-gradation for general practitioners in Family Medicine at the primary healthcare level. This is not equivalent to any postgraduate residential courses in Family Medicine such as MD/DNB. Currently, this course is not affiliated to any university nor recognized by the Medical Council of India or any State council.

The Foundations in Dentistry (FID) course is designed to equip dental practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of the core principles that underpin effective dental practice. As a team working out of Asha Kiran Hospital in rural Odisha, we are able to care for children with cerebral palsy in our communities in a more knowlegable way using what we learned from the PGDRM course. We have been able to help individuals with spinal cord injurises in making steps for rehabilitation. Also, for people with stroke leading to paralysis, we are doing rehabilitation in their homes in the communities around us. Previously I used to only give palliative care for these people, but now after the learnings from the PGDRM course I am involved with our team in doing rehabilitation for these precious patients.
This course has been very helpful in helping us with our patients both in the hospital as well as the community - for those with SCI, stroke and CP especially. We are able to think and plan more wholistically for the patient and it has also helped us with considering the environmental and home modifications.
